KINGSLEY -- A father and daughter from Kingsley are dead after a tragic accident involving a snow-plow truck Sunday morning.

State Police say it happened at around 8:55am Sunday morning at the intersection of Summit City Road and Sparling Road near the Village of Kingsley.

The initial investigation shows that a Grand Traverse County Road Commission plow truck was traveling northbound on Summit City Rd when a vehicle travelling westbound on Sparling Rd failed to stop at the intersection.  The westbound vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by the plow truck killing the driver and one of the passengers.

The driver who was killed was identified as David Pipoly, a 52 year-old male from Kingsley.  The passenger who was killed was identified as his daughter, 13 year old Christa Pipoly.  A second passenger, and the driver of the plow truck, were transported to Munson Medical Center for treatment.

The traffic crash remains under investigation by Michigan State Police.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

A visitation will be held for both David J. Pipoly and Christa Rosalynne Pipoly on Wednesday at the Kingsley High School Gymnasium from 4-8 p.m. A celebration of their lives will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. also at the gymnasium.

A special service for Christa's School and community will be held at 4 p.m.

Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley will be handling the funeral arrangements. To share condolences or fond memories of David or Christa, click here.
