68-year-old man killed in crash

ANTRIM CO. -- A 68-year-old man was killed in a plane crash overnight in Antrim County.

The crash occured north of Mancelona Road near Crooked Lake.

According to the Antrim County Sheriff's Office, deputies were alerted last night that Roger Crawford had not showed up at a family gathering in Frankfort for Thanksgiving.

After checking his home, deputies were informed Crawford was a pilot and may have gone flying.

Crawford and his plane, a Cessna 310B were located in a remote area of Lakes of the North near Crooked Lake Rd off C-38.

Crews had to use ATVs to access the crash.

Sheriff Daniel S. Bean says Crawford was an experienced pilot with many years of commercial flight time.

The investigation is ongoing.
