TRAVERSE CITY -- Motif Jewelers in the Grand Traverse Mall has a way for you to purchase some new jewelry - and support our troops at the same time.
The general manager of Motif in Traverse City, Michael Canova, said he wanted a way to honor past and present soldiers for their duties and commitments that they make for our country, for our freedom and our ability to vote. A very close friend's son, a lieutenant colonel, was killed recently and it made him want to do something special.
On Saturday, the store will be giving 5% of everything sold that day to the Wounded Warriors Fund.
The store is also selling soldier bracelets-which are made from parachutes. A part of those sales will go towards building homes for soldiers.
Motif also plans on having someone from every branch of service at the store from 4-8pm on Saturday.
Canova said, "It just moved me that we are leaving these gentlemen behind, and what do we do for the guys that are coming back that are being unattended to. So I wanted to do something that lets them know that we at Motif honor their service."
The special day is this Saturday, November 3rd, from 10am-9pm. Motif Jewelers is in Grand Traverse Mall near JCPenney. They are holding it just this Saturday so as to not interfere with Servicemen's Day the following week.
