TRAVERSE CITY -- Community members gathered Saturday night to welcome home a northern Michigan soldier who fought for our country overseas.

A line of American flags lined the entrance to the Greilickville Park Saturday, welcoming home 21 year -old Kyle Priest from Traverse City. It was Priest's first night back in Traverse City after a 9 month deployment in Afghanistan. Priest is part of the Michigan National Guard Charlie Troop 126th Calvary, based in Dowagiac.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate his arrival and show their appreciation for the service he gave, protecting our freedom.

Priest says it feels good to home and he's proud to be an American! To see his arrival and to hear from him, click on the video above.
