GRAND TRAVERSE CO. -- The 911 call has been released in the death of 18-year-old Jeremy Schwierking, who was killed after he stole a taxi and crashed into a light pole over the weekend.

Police tell 7&4 News Schwierking was having drinks at a house party in Traverse City early Saturday morning when he decided to walk downtown without telling anyone.

Traverse City Police say they got a call around 2:30 am Saturday morning from Keith Barnsdale, the owner of Keith's Cool Ride Shuttle and Tours. Barnsdall said someone had driven off with his taxi-van.

The cab driver has reportedly left his van parked and running outside of the stretch of bars on Union Street downtown Traverse City.

When the driver came out, he saw someone get into the driver seat of his cab van, and when told to get out, Schwierking sped away.
