It has been a wild week of weather across the Eastern U.S. The most impressive snowstorm to impact the U.S in almost two years brought Little Rock, Arkansas nine inches of snow on Christmas Day, the most ever there.
In the meantime, there have been 13 confirmed tornadoes that touched down in the Deep South on the warm side of that storm system ( Alabama, Mississippi) in particular which is the most ever to strike on Christmas Day.
While no major storms are forecasted for Northern Michigan for the foreseeable future, a weak area of low pressure transiting by to our south will keep clouds around for Friday/Saturday and also bring a few snow showers at times.
Most locations will see less than an inch of accumulation this weekend. There is one area though where we may see more, and that is portions of Alpena/Presque Isle counties as an east wind will interact with Lake Huron setting up lake effect snow there.
Weather model guidance is spitting out the potential of 4-7" from Alpena through Posen including the Long/Grand Lake areas Friday night into Saturday morning. Tough call on any one specific area, but that would be one area to keep a watchful eye on the radar later Friday evening through Saturday morning.
