After a 14-hour overnight journey, thousands of water bottles donated by 7&4 viewers have arrived to the east coast to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.  7&4's Nathan Edwards traveled with the trucks which left Traverse City Friday night and drove to Somerset, New Jersey, arriving there at around 5:00 am Saturday morning.

After news of the devastating aftermath from Hurricane Sandy, the northern Michigan community stepped up for the 7&4 News Water-Bottle Drive!   As of 1:00pm on Wednesday, the truck headed to the east coast was full!  With the help of the community, we were able to track down a second truck. We estimate that over 20,000 bottles of water were donated. Thank you to everyone who donated to help the victims of Sandy.

This weekend, 7&4's Nathan Edwards, along with a crew of Red Cross volunteers, unloaded the water then headed out into the devastation areas in Staten Island.

Stay with 7&4 News for the latest on Nathan's travels, you can follow Nathan Edwards on his journey east through his blog.

7&4 news would like to thank Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan for providing the truck for the water delivery. Also a big thanks to Schmukal Oil Company for providing the gas money for the truck to make the trip out east. 7&4 News would also like to thank Team Elmer's.
