PETOSKEY -- The Emmet County Sheriff is releasing new information about a homicide investigation.
Lyle Kopenkoskey, 58, of Petoskey was shot to death on Oct. 2nd. His body was found early the next morning in a ditch on Kieble Road and his truck was parked nearby.
Sheriff Pete Wallin said that any time a homicide takes place people should be concerned, but said this case is not a random act of violence. Sheriff Wallin said the investigation is focused on a single person of interest. Investigators are awaiting results of several lab tests and evidence submitted to the Michigan State Police crime lab and Spectrum Health before submitting the report to the Prosecutor’s office.
