TRAVERSE CITY -- A new manager will soon get behind the wheel of the Grand Traverse County Road Commission.

Jim Cook will begin work on Nov. 26.  He will be paid $95,000 a year as manager of the commission.  Cook was working in Midland as the executive director at Great Lakes Safety Training Center.

Five people were selected for interviews for the position.  Three were called back for second interviews.

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission decided not to renew the previous manager's contract last May.  Mary Gillis was in charge of the GT Road Commission for six years.  Her contract expired Oct. 16.
