ACME -- Michigan Governor Rick Snyder spent the day in Northern Michigan showing his support for the auto industry and hundreds of its leaders from across the world.

The annual Center For Automotive Research conference is going on this week at the Grand Traverse Resort.

Organizers say auto makers are focused on developing cars with advance technology components like talking and driving itself.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder said he's pleased with how the industry is turning around from a few years ago when 54 auto suppliers filed for bankruptcy and auto giants like GM had to be bailed out.

Governor Snyder says, "We've added over 20,000 manufacturing jobs in the auto sector in Michigan over the last two years."
