A Little River woman was arrested after police found two small children living in filthy conditions.

According to a police report, police were called to a home on March 15 for a domestic incident between roommates. When police got there, they found a large pile of trash near the front door, and a woman, Holly Lynn Kopacz, 27, who police say was "visibly drunk."

That woman's roommate told police the woman had returned to the home was trying to kick him out. The roommate stated the woman drinks often and leaves two children, ages 2 and 4, there alone.

The roommate said he was from Ohio and had recently moved in with the woman after meeting her online.

According to the report, police found the two children sleeping in the bedroom on a "pile of dirty, soiled clothes." Police also found 14 cats living in the home. There was also a strong odor of cat waste in the home.

Officers say there was very little food or drink in the house for the children.

According to the report, the two children were released to a family member.

Holly Kopacz was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Unlawful Neglect of a Child.
