CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department is investigating the latest of four snowmobile deaths that occurred over the weekend.

Chippewa County Deputies said 48-year-old Terri Tarzwell-Klee was driving a snowmobile in Trout Lake Township when she lost control on a curve and hit a tree. She was thrown from the snowmobile and was found unconscious at the scene.

Tarzwell-Klee was transported to War Memorial Hospital in Saulte Ste. Marie where she died from her injuries.

Deputies said just before the accident Tarzwell-Klee's 9-year-old daughter was riding on the snowmobile with her and she stopped to let her daughter switch sleds and ride with her father.

The Sheriffs Office reports that neither excessive speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the accident.

Another snowmobile accident was reported in Gladwin County last Saturday.

A 51-year-old Midland County man was killed after a vehicle driven by a drunken relative struck his snowmobile near Secord Lake. The victim's name has not been released.

Two other snowmobile deaths took place on Trail 35 in Wexford County last Friday.
