Cloudy skies will linger into Thursday with a few snow showers at times. It warms by the weekend with rain forecasted Sunday.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN -- The return of clouds and even a few snow showers has Northern Michigan in the late winter doldrums before the weather gets more active later in the weekend.
While Northern Michigan missed out on a powerful snowstorm that socked Chicago and the Mid-Atlantic region, clouds have set up shop along with a few snow showers Wednesday into early Thursday. A weak disturbance will cross Lake Superior and the Upper Peninsula Wednesday evening touching off some light snow showers. The best chance for a little bit of light snow will be along/north of highway M-72 into the Eastern U.P. where 1-2" of snow is possible by Thursday morning, but many spots will see less than an inch total.
Clouds will be with us at times Thursday into Friday although the weather remains dry and quiet during this time.
By the weekend, temperatures will warm into the low/mid-40's. That combined with another storm system will set up a late winter rain Sunday. There are indications that on the backside of this system Sunday night into Monday, snow will mix in and then switch to all snow Monday. A rather messy weather scenario for Northern Michigan.
