GRAND TRAVERSE CO. -- The lawyer for convicted killer Robert Schwander says he is not done appealing his client's sentence even though it has been reduced.

On Friday, Judge Thomas Power reduced Schwander's sentence to 38-70 years, a two year reduction in the original sentence of 40-70 years in prison.

The change in sentencing came after the Michigan Appeals Court, in a two-to-one decision, called the original sentence excessive and outside the guidelines.

Attorney Craig Elhart said while he respects Judge Powers, he disagrees with his latest decision.

Schwander was sentenced in 2011 for the murder of 16 year old Carly Lewis. Lewis was found dead in a sand pile in Traverse City in June of 2011.
