China exchange students enjoy their first day of school in the United States.

GRAND TRAVERSE -- Fifty students and five teachers from China enjoyed their first day of school in the United States on Wednesday.
The students are part of the Traverse City Area Public School's China High School Exchange Program.
The program focuses on providing exchange students with a full educational and social American high school experience.
"Everyone is reporting that things are going very well," said TCAPS Associate Superintendent, Jayne H. Mohr. "The students are excited to be here. The extreme cold weather of course is something new to them. They're just very eager to learn as much as they can with regard to how our students learn and socialize and et cetera."
For one month, 9th and 10th grade students will live with host families and attend high school with American students at Traverse City West High School, and Traverse City Central High School.
TCAPS has also provided the students with a full itinerary until they depart back to China on February 17th.
The students will participate in things like sports games, music recitals, attending a movie at the theatre, school dances, and much more.
