The winter storm has also meant a busy few days for Grand Traverse 911 dispatchers.

Since Saturday night, they have fielded nearly 85 traffic related calls - ranging from crashes to cars stuck in ditches and driveways. On Monday, dispatchers got 20 calls regarding car crashes. But 12:30 this afternoon, they had already responded to 16 crash calls.

Grand Traverse County dispatchers are encouraging people to use their Grand Traverse 911 Facebook page as a resource before heading out into wintery conditions.

On the page, they post up-to-date information on developing traffic-related issues, road closures and emergency weather situations.
