GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY -- Kids and Families were the big customers at Friday's walk-in flu clinic at the Grand Traverse County Health Department.

"We had a lot more families than what I had originally anticipated," said Kit Mikovitz.  "A number of people are bringing their children out of school and bringing them in to get vaccinated."

The health department arranged to have 300 flu shots ready to go for the flu clinic.

Due to the overall lack in patients, only 112 were given out.

According to the health department, the flu season is far from over.

"We're urging everybody to get their flu shot," said Mikovitz.  "It's still time. The season is ripe and we still have a whole lot of flu out there in the community."

The remainder of the flu shots will be used this week as demands heighten.

The health department is also considering another walk-in flu clinic, depending on area demands.
