TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Police Department has made two arrests in the strong armed robbery of the Admiral Gas Station on Front Street last week.

Police say the first suspect is a 22-year-old Traverse City man. He admitted to detectives he was the subject in the surveillance video who held an employee in the back room and directed the second employee to put all the money in the register in a backpack, according to a press release today.

Both the backpack and the clothing he wore have been recovered by detectives.

The second suspect is an 18-year-old Buckley woman who admitted that she helped plan the robbery, police say. She also admitted that she received most of the money that was stolen from the gas station.

The suspects did not know the employees nor were they past employees, according to the press release.

Both suspects are currently lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail on charges of Strong Armed Robbery.
