TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Police Department arrested a 24-year-old woman for causing more than $800 in damage to a hotel room.

The incident took place at the Best Western Motel on Munson Avenue this past Friday.

The motel supervisor told police that another employee spoke to the suspect around 11 am and told her it was time to check out of the room. They then heard noises coming from the room and after the woman left, extensive damage was found.

Police were able to find the woman nearby and she admitted to damaging the room. She was taken into custody for malicious destruction of property.

The damage is estimated to cost more than $800 to repair.
