Crews spent Monday cleaning up the Alpine Plaza in Gaylord. This comes after a fire destroyed the Alpine Laundromat and Dry Cleaners and damaged other nearby businesses.

“When we arrived on site Saturday morning it was severely smoke and fire damaged as well as water damage was completely saturated and we had standing water in that area,” Servpro Manager Shawn Lupton said.

One of the offices in the plaza that was damaged housed Otsego County's Toys for Tots donation center.

“We lost between $12,000 and $15,000 in toys and about $6000 in clothing,” Toys for Tots's Otsego County Coordinator Rosie Warner said.

Toys for Tots is now in bind to get enough donations to help make sure needy kids around Otsego County have gifts for Christmas. They have opened up a donation center at the United Way center in Gaylord. Toys for Tots is now looking for toys, clothes, and money donations. They will be accepting them until December 7th. And they plan to deliver then on December 15th and 16th.
