TRAVERSE CITY -- Grand Traverse County Sheriff Deputies are currently searching for a man they say fled from a deputy on Wednesday.

According to a release from the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, at approximately 5 pm on Wednesday, a deputy attempted to stop a pick up truck that had just ran a red light.

The Sheriff says the driver of the truck did not pull over and instead accelerated on Three Mile Road. The driver attempted to turn into the Wood Creek subdivision on S. Airport Road, damaging the sign to the subdivision.

The driver then exited the truck and entered an unoccupied home. He is described as a white male, approximately 20 years of age with reddish-blonde hair. He was wearing a blue or black Carhart T-shirt and jeans.

Deputies checked the home and attempted a search with dogs, but the suspect was not located.

The Sheriff's Office is currently following up on information gathered at the scene as to a possible suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office.
