Traverse City police say a tip from a retired state trooper lead them to a suspect in the skate park sexual assault case. 7&4 News first reported last week about an 8-year-old boy who was followed home from the skate park and sexually assaulted.
Police detectives got a tip from a retired state police trooper who handled a similar case. They discovered the man who had previously been convicted of sexual assault, was back out of prison. Police searched his home in Alden and found clothes he was wearing the day of the assault. The suspect was arrested this afternoon.
7&4 News is told he is the same man seen in surveillance video around the time of the assault. He faces charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct. His name has not been released.
