GAYLORD, MI -- Election Day is a week from Tuesday, and it is crunch time in the 105th District.

Republican incumbent Greg MacMaster is hoping to reserve his seat in Lansing for another two years.

MacMaster told 7&4 News he wants to create a northern Michigan where businesses can thrive.

“We are over regulated. What we want to do is make sure we hold departments and agencies accountable on permitting and regulations and things like that to make it easier for businesses to come in and create profitability and substantiality for our future,” MacMaster said.

Democrat William Wieske will face off with MacMaster on November 6.

Wieske is a political novice. He said he wants to enter the political realm so he can fight for the working, middle class.

“The fact of the matter is, the government is working very hard for the top 1%...it's just not working well for us. The government is working the way they want it to work. Not the way we want it to work,” said Wieske.
