EAST LANSING, MICH. (AP) -- A historic auditorium at Michigan State University has been transformed and is getting a grand opening under a new name.

The Cook Recital Hall, formerly known as the Music Building Auditorium, officially reopens Sunday with the season kickoff of the West Circle Series. The hall first built more than 70 years ago is named after lead donors Byron and Dee Cook.

Renovations include new seating, acoustical treatments, an air conditioning system, lighting and wood finishes. Plans were developed by a national team of architects and acoustics experts.

The $5 million renovation project started in April.

A dedication concert was held earlier this month.
