Two Grand Rapids men have been arraigned on charges of murdering a longtime Grand Valley State University student adviser who was found stabbed to death at his home last month.

Grand Rapids police and an FBI task force arrested 24-year-olds Timothy J. Miller and Maceo L. Scott on Tuesday in the robbery-slaying of 50-year-old Santiago Zapata, found slain Sept. 25.

They were ordered jailed without bond at their arraignment Thursday. Their preliminary examination is Oct. 15 on first-degree murder and robbery charges. The Kent County sheriff's department couldn't say if they have lawyers.

Police say the suspects both admit robbing Zapata, but each blames the other for killing him.

Grand Valley State University says Zapata was a 19-year employee with its education college.
