Police are releasing a sketch of a suspect involved in an attack on a popular walking trail in Traverse City.

TRAVERSE CITY -- Police are releasing a sketch of a suspect involved in an attack on a popular walking trail in Traverse City.

The woman said she was walking her dog on the TART Trail near Boardman Lake Sunday when a man approached her from behind, placed her in a bear hug and attempted to move her into a wooded area.

The woman was able to break away and run home.

The man is identified by the victim as being a while male or Native American, in his late twenties or early thirties. He was described as medium build, with long black hair that was pulled back into a pony tail. He was last seen wearing a red fitted short sleeve shirt and baggy jeans.

Grand Traverse County Sheriff's investigators have received several tips and put together a photo lineup of possible suspects.
