GAYLORD -- Police are investigating an overnight theft of dozens of tires and a U-Haul used as a getaway vehicle.

As many as 32 tires were stolen late Sunday night or early Monday morning from cars on the lot of Gaylord Ford on West McCoy Road.  A U-Haul was also taken from a nearby lot on South Otsego Avenue.

The U-Haul was found in Detroit a few hours later and is being processed by Michigan State Police.

A similar crime took place last week in Wexford County.  Tires and rims were removed from seven vehicles at Fox Motors on Mitchell Street in Cadillac.

A white cargo van was also stolen from the dealership that was later recovered in the Detroit area.

Authorities believe it was the same group.
