TRAVERSE CITY -- Business owners new to downtown Traverse City along with those who have been around for years are reporting strong summer sales.
The Sweet Life has only been open since June. The candy store's owner says her first summer downtown has been rewarding.
Rose Foley says, "As the summer has gone on people have been coming in maybe the word is getting out."
Monday sidewalks were packed with folks looking for that perfect vacation souvenir.
Martee Hickman, Owner of Nifty Things says, "We're seeing a lot of first timers in Traverse City. I think that it is the Pure Michigan Campaign and being named Most Beautiful Place in America that is pulling people to the area."
Fall is a slower time of year for businesses, many store owners are planning special events and sales to keep sales up.
