MANISTEE -- A ten-year-old girl is in the hospital after a rotted tree fell on her.
Alexis Kitchen was sitting on the steps at a friend's house eating an ice cream cone when a large part of a rotted tree broke free and fell on her, according to the Manistee Department of Public Safety.
Family and friends pulled her out from under the tree before EMS arrived.
According to a press release this morning, Alexis' mother, Jennifer Rogers, said her daughter is scheduled for surgery to put a rod in her leg to repair a broken femur. She will also meet with a plastic surgeon due to injuries to her face.
