The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians has announced the distribution of $788,441.90 of gaming revenue to local government units.

The Grand Traverese band allocates two-percent of its video gaming revenue to local units of government, no later than 60 days after October 1st and March 31st each year.

The money has been allocated to 43 local applicants as part of the Tribes "2-percent allocation" which takes place twice per year.

Some of the notable recipients of this allocation were Suttons Bay and Traverse City Public Schools for Indian Education Program Funding, funding for the SEEDS program at Benzie County Central Schools, and the Township of Mayfield's rural fire department.

Since the allocation began in 1994, the Grand Traverse Band has allocated over $29 million to hundreds of local organizations.
