TRAVERSE CITY. MI -- The Republican Party’s stronghold in Lansing includes the 101st District seat, but two Democrats seek to change that.

On August 7, Democrats in Benzie, Leelanau, Manistee and Mason County will choose who they want to challenge incumbent State Representative Ray Franz in the November election.

Primary voters will decide between former Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians Tribal Chairman Derek Bailey and Manistee resident, small business owner Allen O'Shea.
