After months of debate the day has finally come. The tracks for Traverse City's mini-train are being pulled up.
TRAVERSE CITY -- The miniature train tracks that run through Clinch Park in Traverse City are being ripped out.
The Spirit of Traverse City mini passenger train rode the tracks for years, but in June the Traverse City Commission decided to sell the train. The Northwest Michigan Engine and Thresher club, which runs the Buckley Old Engine Show, bought the train and its tracks for $20. The city accepted the bid in order to keep the train local.
Removing the train is part of the bayfront renovation plan.
