One group of dedicated men and women are giving up a week of work and other obligations to raise money and awareness for children and adults with mental disabilities.

25 warriors ride personal watercrafts for 5 days and 350 miles along the entire length of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River.

The warriors raise money and for Special Olympics Michigan athletes.

There are food, fuel and overnight stops in several communities along the way. The Special Olympics Michigan athletes will even get to go for a short ride on Sunday in the harbor area in Mackinaw City, and then again later in the week.

Special Olympics Michigan is always looking for more riders. You do not have to take part in the entire 5-day ride, shorter rides are available.

The ride kicks off on Monday at 7 am in Mackinaw City. The ride then ends at Brown's Waterfront Bar on Harsen's Island Friday at noon.

Since the Water Warriors started in 1991, they have raised more than $2 million for Special Olympics Michigan athletes.
