The person of interest in the death of four-year-old Carnel Chamberlain has pled not guilty to assault charges in federal court this afternoon.

Anthony Bennett will remain behind bars until the conclusion of his trial. He is charged with assaulting the four-year-old, but has not been charged for his death.

Carnel's body was found last month, burned under the porch at his mother's Isabella County home. Bennett lived at the home as well.
