TRAVERSE CITY -- When you think of the National Cherry Festival, you probably think about air shows and family fun, but behind the scenes a lot is being done to make sure you are safe.

For the first time festival organizers have hired a security team to install cameras. They won't tell us exactly how many, but most of them are in the beer tent.

The security cameras are the festival's eyes in the sky, helping keep track of festival profits and crack down on drunk and disorderly behavior.

Trevor Tkach, National Cherry Festival Executive Director says, "We want to make sure we limit any chance of incident we can. It is nice to have police on hand, but it is also smart to have security cameras so you know what happened."
