CLARE COUNTY -- A 25 year-old Grayling man is dead after he was thrown from a inner-tube and drowned in the waters of Lake George on Saturday.

Clare County Deputies say they received a call around 3:30pm Saturday afternoon that a man had gone missing in the middle of Lake George in Lincoln Township.

25 year-old Robert Howe was tubing behind a pontoon boat with a family member, they both fell off  and were not wearing life jackets. The family member made it to the shore unharmed, but Howe did not surface from the water.

After an intense search, he was found in about 15 feet of water. CPR was immediately started but all efforts to revive him failed.

Howe was pronounced dead at the hospital and the accident remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this incident.
