Michigan's own Jordyn Wieber has made the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team.

The 14-year-old DeWitt native will be a part of a team that is expected to be one of the strongest American team since 1996.

Despite Wieber's succes, it was Gabby Douglas, a 16-year-old originally from Virginia, who came out on top. Douglas beat Wieber for the first time. She won the trials, and in turn, the only guaranteed spot for the London Games.

Wieber has been considered the favorite for the Games since winning the world title last fall. Her biggest competitors are expected to be Russians Aliya Mustafina and Viktoria Komova.

The opening ceremonies for the 2012 games will take place on July 27.
