TRAVERSE CITY -- A man was mugged in Traverse City's Old Town District early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred on the 400 block of South Union Street. Police arrived on the scene to see a 50-year-old man unconscious with a large gash on his forehead and multiple facial injuries.
Witnesses say that the victim had been assaulted and robbed. The witnesses said that victim was was on foot when he was approached by the suspects. They talked for a minute before the victim fell to the ground, hitting his head. The witnesses say that they observed one of the suspects roll the victim over and go through his pockets. According to witnesses, the suspects looked at them and said "you didn't see anything right".
Witnesses were later able to identify the suspects. The one who was in contact with the victim was arrested. He is a 38-year-old man from Traverse City.
The stolen items, including cash, credit cards and the man's driver's license, was recovered two blocks south of the incident.
The victim was transported to Munson for treatment.
