CADILLAC -- The body of a drowning victim in Wexford County was found by a search team Wednesday, nearly five days after he disappeared.

Kenneth Coty, 41, was fully dressed when he jumped off a boat in Lake Mitchell Friday afternoon.  He was trying to save his young child who had fallen overboard.   The child, who was wearing a life jacket,  was rescued by other children on the boat but Coty disappeared when winds carried him away from the boat.

The Wexford County Sheriff's Office said Coty's body was recovered at 8:31am Wednesday from the south shore of Lake Mitchell.

Coty is from Merrill, which is in Saginaw County.
