LUCE COUNTY (AP) -- AP - State officials are allowing some Upper Peninsula residents evacuated due to a weeklong wildfire to return home.

Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fire Management public information officer Dean Wilson says Friday that only people who can prove residency in certain communities can get back in between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday.

The communities are Pike Lake, Bodi Lake, Little Lake Harbor and Culhane Lake.

Wilson says the effort is "to get people back in their homes, out of hotels and out of friends' homes."

They will have to check in and check out as they come and go. Roads still will be closed to non-residents.
