Assessing wildfire damages

CADILLAC, MI (AP) -- Governor Rick Snyder and U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow have reviewed damage from a wildfire that's scorched 21,000 acres in the Upper Peninsula.

The DNR announced that the nearly 34-square-mile fire in Luce County's Duck Lake area was 57% contained yesterday after Snyder and Stabenow visited the area.

The fire has destroyed over 100 structures. The Department of Natural Resources estimates the cost of the fire is close to $1 million.

7&4’s Brody O’Connell spoke to local wildfire experts about what challenges exist after the flames are out.
