EMPIRE -- Empire is celebrating it's first festival of the season for asparagus.
A parade through town on Saturday made it the busiest day of the three day event. But there's more than just a parade to keep you interested.
Restaurants and vendors are offering up some great asparagus recipes at the special cook-off including everything from grilled asparagus, asparagus burgers, asparagus ice cream and even pizza. Organizers say it's great to see community members come out year after year and put Empire on the map.
If you missed the fun on Saturday, a breakfast takes place from 8am to noon on Sunday at the Empire Township Hall.
