GAYLORD, MI -- Michigan State Police appointed 21 troopers to communities across the state.

The Community Service Troopers are assigned to mentor the youth, work with seniors and focus on community service and training. One of their biggest tasks is to get into classrooms and talk with kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Trooper Jamie Voss was selected as the Community Service Trooper responsible for Antrim, Emmet, Charlevoix Cheboygan and Otsego counties.

A federal grant was used to support the Community Service Trooper program.
