"Nice Morel mushrooms," said Phil. "Yummy, yummy."

TRAVERSE CITY -- "Please don't try this at home. This is very dangerous," said Chef Phil Murray, Owner of Phil's on Front in Traverse City. "But I've been practicing for 37 years... So here we go!"

Phil is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8 at 6:30 p.m.

This week Phil is showing you how to prepare and cook Morel mushrooms:

Ingredients:

Morel mushrooms

Cream

Brandy

Butter

Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

Soak the mushrooms in a bowl of lightly salted water to rid of bugs and dirt. Then drain.

Cooking Directions:

Get a 10-inch saute pan hot. Add butter to coat pan. Once it starts to sizzle, add the mushrooms. Saute for a minute or two. Add salt and pepper. Saute for another minute. Next, add brandy, and let flame.

"Woah," said Phil. "Once the flame shoots up, and the alcohol cooks off, you add a little bit of cream, and that's your gravy right there."

Let simmer for about one minute. Place on plate and serve!

"Nice Morel mushrooms," said Phil. "Yummy, yummy."

Enjoy!

If you can't wait until next week for another recipe from Phil, stop in at Phil's On Front in downtown Traverse City. Phil's on Front is located at 236 East Front Street.
