Three people were hospitalized Friday night after a chain-reaction crash involving a logging truck. It happened just before 5:30 p.m. on M-42 at the intersection of North 47 Road.

Sheriff's investigators say an eastbound panel van waiting to turn left onto North 47 was rear ended by a Jeep. That collision forced the van into the path of the logging truck. The truck crashed into the van smashing it into pieces.

The driver of the van was seriously injured and rushed to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. The two other drivers were taken to Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. The road was closed for several hours as crews cleaned up the scene. No word yet on who was injured or to the extent of the injuries.
