TRAVERSE CITY -- House Call: Can it really be another cold?
"Yes, we are still well within the typical cold season which lasts from mid September through April or May," said Dr. Karla Smith from the Traverse Area Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic. "Children six years and under experience 6-8 colds per year."
Dr. Smith also said a higher incidence of colds is expected in infants and preschoolers who are in daycare or who have older siblings in school. So, when is it more than a cold?
"Cold symptoms in children last around 10 days," said Dr. Smith. "A persistent fever or worsening cough is generally a sign parents should contact their child's doctor."
