Chef Phil Murray from Phil's on Front in Traverse City prepares a special Irish dish

TRAVERSE CITY -- "We all know the Irish saved civilization over 2,000 years ago," says chef Phil Murray from Phil's on front in Traverse City. "To commemorate that date, I'm making a special dish.

Phil is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8.

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Phil is sharing his delicious Filet of Beef Tenderloin Red Hugh recipe:

Ingredients:

2-4 oz. Beef tenderloin steaks

1 Large carrot peeled (cut in 3-inch by 1/4-inch rectangles)

1 Large celery stalk (cut in 3-inch by 1/4-inch rectangles)

1 Sweet onion, julienne (Same size as carrot and celery)

6 Whole peeled garlic cloves

1 12 oz Bottle of Guinness Stout

Cooking Directions:

Marinate all ingredients over night (approx. 6 hours). Pan sear beef tenderloin in hot oil 3 minutes on each side. Remove beef tenderloin from pan. Add all other ingredients in pan beef was cooked in. Simmer 10-12 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

"Between the dark beer and all of the vegetables, you're going to get a wonderful flavor," says Phil.

Pour over beef and serve.

Bon Appetite!
