Three car crash shuts down busy US 31 in Grand Traverse County

GARFIELD TWP. -- All four people involved in a crash that shut down a busy stretch of highway, walk away with non-life threatening injuries.

Rescue crews were called to U.S. 31 south in front of the Meijer store around 4:40pm Thursday. 

Investigators say a southbound vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Traverse City man crossed the centerline, hitting a northbound car waiting to turn left into Meijer, this car then collided with another vehicle.

A 24-year-old Manton man, a 21-year-old Thompsonville woman, and  59-year-old Traverse City woman were taken to the hospital for injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office.
