GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY -- With the Michigan Presidential Primary just 10 days away, hundreds of the country's top republicans met in northern Michigan Saturday night, for the 2012 Reagan Day Dinner.

More than 400 people filled the Governors Room at the Grand Traverse Resort for the annual Republican dinner.

State Reps and Senators from all over northern Michigan filled the seats, as dozens of speakers took the stage.

Among the speakers Saturday night, was Governor Rick Snyder, who stressed the importance of getting a Republican back into the white house.

Also taking the stage was Jerry Zandstra from Grand Rapids, who was at the dinner, to speak on behalf of Rick Santorum. Zandstra says Santorum is surging in not only the national polls but also here in Michigan. He says Santorum stands out above the other candidates -- because he leads with his heart.

Also at the dinner was former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, who spoke on behalf of Governor Mitt Romney.

7&4 News had a chance to sit down with Pawlenty earlier in the day, he explained why he thinks Romney can beat President Obama and take the white house. To hear his response and to hear the entire raw interview with Governor Tim Pawlenty, click on the video above.
