DTE pilot program rewards people who save on energy consumption.

DTE Energy, in conjunction with Michigan Saves and Building Science Energy Services, is kicking off a program in northern Michigan that could provide up to $2,500 in rebates for new homeowners.

The energy optimization pilot program will give money to new homeowners or those refinancing and looking to make energy saving renovations.

Owners will receive between $1,500 and $2,500 depending on how much the modifications will reduce gas usage. You must reduce usage by at least 20 percent to qualify.

Michigan Saves Home Mortgage Program Coordinator, Brad Mann, explains how the program could save you money in more ways than one.

“The beauty of this energy rebate is the person refinancing or buying an existing home will not only receive cash of up to $2,500 but, by making their home more energy efficient, will see lower overall homeownership costs month after month than if they elected not to install the energy efficient items.”

Those looking to refinance or buy an existing home and obtain the details on how to take advantage of the energy saving DTE Energy's Pilot Program rebate project can contact Brad Mann at BSES at 1-855-887-2313 or email Brad at mortgageloans@michigansaves.org.
